"HOME AGAIN - JULY 30, 2012"

Our objective for this trip was to attend the 100th Anniversary of the Calgary Stampede.  Mission accomplished, plus many more other side trips were taken and enjoyed.  What an exciting adventure when traveling with your best friend!

It certainly was a fabulous 41-day ride taking in the following states in the US and Provinces of Canada:

            California
            Nevada
            Idaho
            Montana
            Alberta, Canada
            British Columbia, Canada
            Washington
            Oregon
            Back to California

Total Number of Miles Traveled:              5,720

Campground to Campground
Miles Traveled From Home
     To Alberta, Canada                1,760

Miles Traveled from Alberta,
     Canada To Home                   1,960

Total Number of Miles Traveled
     From Campground to Campground:       3,720

Total Miles Traveled Sightseeing
While Set Up in Campgrounds                2,000

Number of Campgrounds                 17

We saw some beautiful country, both in Canada and the United States.  We were not disappointed in any of our travels.  While traveling home these past several days in California, it reiterates to us what a fabulous state we live in, and we always feel fortunate to live in such a beautiful area when arriving back in Templeton.  I want to say:

GOD BLESS THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
AND
GOD BLESS CANADA
AND
GOD BLESS ALL OUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS

Thank You For Spending Some Time With Us

I'll leave you with a couple of photos .....

"PETALUMA TO TEMPLETON 7/30/12"

Our last travel day was uneventful, thank God!  In order to avoid Bay Area traffic, we didn't leave Petaluma until 9:15 a.m.  After traveling four hours 15 minutes, we were home in Templeton at 1:30 p.m.  Leaving Petaluma the temperature was 59 degrees and by the time we arrived home it was 96 degrees; almost a 40-degree rise in temperature.  After being gone for six seeks, and with temperatures sometimes in the triple digits, our home was a cool 79 degrees, so we felt lucky about that.

The Road Runner did another good job, with the average fuel consumption today being at 13.5 miles per gallon after traveling 255 miles.

Here are a few photos of our trip today.  I will do one final blog after this one, so stay tuned for the FINAL ONE!

"#2 EUREKA TO PETALUMA, CA"

This is the final post for today, Sunday, July 29, 2012.  We are tucked in at the Elks Lodge in Petaluma for our last night on the road.  These photos start with us arriving in the wine country of northern California.  We really do live in a beautiful and diversified state.  Nothing like coming home when one has lived in this state all her life!

Our travels today took us 245 miles with an actual driving time of four hours 30 minutes.  There are a lot of slow, two-lane roads with many curves, making the driving just a little slower than easy freeway driving.  The Road Runner continues to get good fuel consumption, today at 12.4 miles per gallon.  When refueling in Petaluma this afternoon, we paid $3.84 per gallon for diesel.  I'm sure it won't be this CHEAP at home.  Stay tuned.  Will let you know after we arrive tomorrow.

The weather in Eureka this morning was cold and damp with temperature at 56 degrees.  Upon our arrival early afternoon in Petaluma, the temperature was 73 degrees with beautiful sunshine.  Love this sun!  For those of you that have not been in this part of California, I hope these photos give you some kind of idea what this northern part of California looks like.  Obviously, photos taken while driving, do not do the area justice.

"EUREKA TO PETALUMA, CA - 7/29/2012"

This is Day #40 of our trip that took us to the Calgary Stampede in Alberta, Canada.  Tonight will be the last night sleeping in Casa Piccolo, as tomorrow  afternoon, God willing, we will be back home in Templeton.  Many thanks to our law enforcement friends that were at our home during our trip.  Could not have done it without them ..... what peace of mind this offers to us when we are traveling.  Great friends, and great trip!

Not too much adventure today, but will show a few travel photos in a couple of blogs as we make our way home.  We now have less than 250 miles of travel before being back in our home, a little older, and a little wiser for all that we've seen and learned while on this trip.  What a wonderful opportunity to be able to travel in the USA and Canada.  We both feel so blessed.
