"OLD FAITHFUL GEYSER - YELLOWSTONE"

It's always amazing to personally see thousands of gallons of steaming water thunder into the sky as Old Faithful Geyser erupts.  "Of the approximately 10,000 hydro-thermal features in the park, the best  known is Old Faithful Geyser!  This geyser erupts, on the average, every 92 minutes."  We were not disappointed in the display while we were there on Monday, 6/25/12.

A little trivia about Yellowstone Lake ... it is the largest high elevation lake in North America.  Elevations in the park range from 5,282' to 11,358'.  The shoreline of Yellowstone Lake is 141 miles long, and the surface area is 132 square miles.  A portion of the lake sits within a large caldera (or crater) that was formed by a volcano and then carved and filled by glaciers some 14,000 years ago.

Now, for some photos taken of Old Faithful erupting for our entertainment and enjoyment .... hope you enjoy the show, too!

The Eruption of Old Faithful Occurred 33 Minutes After my First Photo
It Started Slowly ... Then Going to the "Burping" Stage
And Finally the Main Eruption

I was Still Taking Photos 10 Minutes Later After that Eruption
As Evidenced in the Last Photo
